The Šafran family has a long tradition in wine cultivation and wine production. Written records of the Šafran family owning vineyards date right back to the 18th century.

Today, the Šafran Winery owns nineteen hectares of vineyards, planted according to the most advanced methods. Fifteen hectares are located in the winegrowing hills of the Varaždin area and another four hectares are located in the wine-gorwing region of Zlatar. The cultivated wine sorts include Graševina, Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Yellow Muscat, Traminac – Gewurtztraminer and Manzoni White.

The Šafran Winery produces wines from high quality grapes, cultivated in environmentaly pristine conditions. The grapes are harvested quite lat, which gives the wines a pronounced fruity aroma.
